Only wish I'd discovered it earlier into my stay! Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the food was excellent. It was good hearty home cooked type food and decent portions too. We missed the live music event unfortunately but the choice of recorded music played afterwards by the staff was great. We were treated to loads of blues classics. Proprietor and staff are very hospitable and accommodating. Can't recommend highly enough. Hidden gem!
This was the closest restaurant to our accommodation (a trek of exactly 40m), and so we decided to check it out. We met Moha (sorry if the spelling is incorrect, but it’s a shortened version of Mohamed), and he told us that he was closed on this particular day. And then said “but I never turn business away” and opened up just for us! And that is indication of Moha’s hospitable nature. We ended up visiting multiple times. There’s a very small menu, but a word to the wise: just let Moha decide what to cook for you. We did that twice and the platters of food that came out were astonishing (and too much for us to eat, so take a doggy bag!). Truly, the food was outstanding. Don’t expect a quick visit. We joked about it all being prepared on “African time”, but that extra investment of time will reward you with a strong sense of community and belonging. I know that sounds like a crock, but it was our experience. Osaka is very lucky indeed to have this Sudanese resto.
It was me and my friend's first time eating African food in Japan and it was great. The owner was kind, accommodating, and gave us great recommendations. Everything was great. I just wish I could havw eaten everything. We had lors of leftovers ?If you've never had African food in Osaka, don't leave without visiting ?
Incredible vegan food with a really friendly owner. The hummus was particularly a highlight, it was super fresh and tasty.
A friend recommended Baobab and my partner and I finally made here for lunch. It was FANTASTIC! The flavor of the foul (Sudanese fava bean stew - vegan friendly), and the chicken damaa (a tomato stew) were DELICIOUS! The spicy chili peanut butter dakwa took things to the next level. It was SPICY, but the good spicy. Flavor forward and heat on the finish. We will be back for more
