2 Osakajo, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 540-0002, Japan
Nishinomaru Garden, located within Osaka Castle Park, is a tranquil spot perfect for relaxation and enjoying nature. The garden offers stunning views of Osaka Castle framed by seasonal flowers and cherry blossoms in spring. During cherry blossom season, the garden transforms into one of Osaka’s best hanami spots, with over 300 sakura trees in bloom. The expansive lawn and peaceful atmosphere make it a great place for picnics and strolls. A must-visit for nature lovers and anyone seeking a serene escape near Osaka Castle!
Osaka-jo Castle Illuminage 2024-2025 is held at Nishinomaru Garden Theme of illumination is on Japan Culture. There is a huge field of waves and light on the field. And horse riding warrior that rush across the field. Beautiful golden light that make it feels like rains Shitennoji Pagoda, Samurai and Sumo wrester, Tokugawa and samurai swords, amour and helmet. A huge ship in the center. You can go into the ship. The illumination seesaw is one of the fun things to try out. There are food stall in the park. You can choose your favorite food and sit inside the tent
The gardens are always well curated regardless of season. I was not in Japan during the blossoming of the Sakura's but nonetheless the garden is very enjoyable and well kept.
Nice simple park area, more peaceful than the free grounds - very affordable at ¥200, but not a lot to see. Open greens, no ornamental gardens that we found. Some good views of the castle.
