I’ve dined at Azumaya twice now, both experiences being very very pleasant! I give 4 stars for now just because I realized the second time I ordered a Chicken Katsu Curry I noticed that the size of the Chicken Katsu was significantly smaller this time compared to my first visit (please check photos!). I’d really like to see the consistency in the future! But who knows- they may have weighed the same but only differed in size. Regardless, I would say that for the portion and quality of food, they are very fairly priced! We had unagi don the first time and enjoyed it very much too! Portion was great for its price, but we hadn’t ordered it for a second time yet! Hopefully it will be consistent when I visit again :-) The Yakitori selection we ordered was just great! We also had the potato salad, which tasted great, however I personally enjoy my potato salad with a bit of a ‘rougher’ texture, theirs is more soft, but still great! What I really really appreciate the most out of this restaurant is that the service is incredible! In our first visit, we felt the Miso Soup to be too salty for our taste and requested for a bit more hot water to dilute the soup- but they insisted on making us a new batch! It was really not necessary as we were happy with just extra hot water but they really went above and beyond. The second time we dined in, the miso soup was perfect ??! This has become one of my favourite Japanese restaurants so far! Good food, great service, fairly priced! ??
The food tastes authentic, especially omurice. The tomato sauce added to the rice is just nice, combined with the curry sauce, making a really well-balanced, slightly sweet and savory taste Would recommend their potato salad as well as it's cheap and delicious However, their yakitori or any dishes using yakitori sauce are all too salty. As for chawan mushi, the taste of mirin is a bit overwhelming Although it's to create a cozy ambiance, i am still very concerned with how dark the stairs to 2nd floor are They have a wide variety of dishes and prices from fair to higher prices that you can choose accordingly Overall, it's a very nice place to hang out after a rough day 5 star for the staff and service
We've eaten here once for special occasion and were amazed by the quality of the food and service. We recommend the omurice, yakisoba, chicken katsu, and negima. Will definitely visit again in near future!
Cool place for lunch and dinner, recommended for hang out with friends. Good vibes and atmosphere!!
You know you're in the right place (ie. Japanese restaurant) when you've got swarms of expats Japanese dining in here! Possibly the best Yakitori on the island. Definitely deserves a revisit in the very near future!
