Our stay at Tri was peaceful and refreshing. Set right by Koggala Lake, the surroundings are calm and full of nature, perfect for a quiet escape. The food was spot on, and the signature cocktails were a great surprise. Dinesh, the GM, was genuinely welcoming and made us feel really comfortable. We also got to join in on the Sinhala & Tamil New Year event, which was such a nice touch. A lovely, laid-back experience overall.
We had a beautiful stay at Tri Koggala at the end of our Sri Lanka trip. Tri (compared to other hotels in the area) is a fully functioning and sophisticated hotel which is experienced enough to deal with international guests. The staff were equipped to deal with our requests and were very welcoming and attentive to our needs and the rooms were clean and spacious. We were kindly offered a room upgrade on arrival and we were happy with all of the facilities and amenities that the hotel had to offer. Despite what some of the other reviews say, we were overall pleased with the varied food options which catered for both Western and local cuisine. We would recommend staying here again.
It is a beautifully architectured boutique hotel located on the more calmer side of the Koggala lake. If you notice and enjoy architecture design details, you’d appreciate this property. The pool, surprisingly 7ft or more deep at the deep-end, was amazing to dip in the mornings and evenings. Food was decent (7/10) but somewhat limited (veg, fish and chicken only). Overall service was okay. The gentleman who waited us at the restaurant and the bartender at the pool bar truly made an effort to ensure we were well take care of. Internet connection was great. Sustainable practices. Plenty of refilled glass water bottles. The access road to expect is a typical Koggala inroad; narrow and windy. Wish there was a fridge in the room. QR code to menus and services mentioned a happy hour but upon inquiry, we’re told it’s not available, which was disappointing. Overall, nice serene stay, fair value given the location and property design.
This was our first trip to Sri Lanka, and we chose this lakeside hotel to escape the hustle and bustle of the city — and it fully lived up to our expectations. We spent a whole week here, enjoying the peace, nature, and calm atmosphere. The staff deserves special praise — always nearby, helpful, and kind, even during the low season when there weren’t many guests. There’s a small but well-equipped gym — clean and has everything you need. The food was fresh and tasty, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cocktails at the bar. Definitely try the massage at the spa — it was a great way to relax and unwind. One evening, the team surprised us with a romantic dinner — they beautifully set up a table in a quiet, cozy spot. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, and it turned into one of the sweetest memories of our stay ? You can also take a boat trip across the lake to a nearby island where a local family shares how they grow and process cinnamon — a unique and atmospheric little adventure. If you’re looking for a place to relax your body and soul, surrounded by nature, with attentive service and total peace — this is the perfect choice. Highly recommend! I’d choose this hotel again thanks to the amazing care and attention we received ?
