Hotel was great and service exceptional. Chandimal our room boy was so helpful and kind and talented, creating towel sculptures sometimes as a surprise. Ruwan and others in the restaurant were tireless in their attention and always smiling. The food was excellent quality and copious. The location was fabulous except for the hooting train although that was picturesque. The beaches are superb. Pity about the undercurrents. The pool is enormous and enticing, fringed by palms. The pool staff were always on hand to find loungers. When it is up and running fully this hotel will be superb. At present the renovations are still taking place not that they disturbed anyone with noise. The rooms are spacious and facing west the incredible sunsets are on full view. Only one gripe, there is not enough drawer space for folded clothes. All in all a great 5 days stay. Vivien and Peter James

First time at this Resort. We had our company offsite. I must say from the welcome to the check-in, to rooms, to food, really great experience. Since it is at the end of that hotel stretch, there is a long picturesque beach. Great for a morning walk/jog. The grounds are well kept and they had a wonderful arrangement for our evening social. Their food options cater to veg and non-veg, Sri Lankan, Indian and continental. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. Made our stay pleasant. Great overall experience!

Our experience at Taj Bentota Resort & Spa was truly unforgettable, thanks to the incredible service and outstanding culinary offerings. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like valued guests—always warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. Every interaction was marked by professionalism and kindness, making our stay feel special from start to finish. The food was the true highlight. Every meal felt like a carefully curated dining experience. Whether it was the rich flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine or the variety of international dishes, each bite was delicious and beautifully presented. The seafood, in particular, was fresh and full of flavor—clearly sourced with care and prepared with skill. Breakfasts were lavish and varied, with a spread that catered to every taste. We especially loved the local specialties like hoppers and coconut sambol, made to order and served with a smile. The chefs were also happy to accommodate special requests, which added a personal touch to our dining experience. We certainly enjoyed the dosas, paratha and poha. Dining with a view of the ocean, with the sound of waves in the background, made every meal even more memorable. The service in the restaurants was impeccable—staff were knowledgeable, courteous, and always ready with thoughtful recommendations. We certainly enjoyed the live music on few of the evenings, this was a great touch. Taj Bentota combines luxury with the warmth of true Sri Lankan hospitality. If you’re a food lover or someone who values exceptional service, this resort is an absolute gem. We left with full hearts and even fuller stomachs—already dreaming of our next visit.
