75 Aberdeen St, Northbridge WA 6003, Australia
I stayed here for 6 months and it was my first hostel in Australia. It literally became my Perth family and my second home. There is only 10 bedrooms so everyone knows everyone and it was really easy to met new friends. You can find all the necessary to cook, and there is 2 TV rooms to chill with everyone (or not). In every room you have the locker and drawer to put your staff. The hostel is in Northbridge so the better part of the city to get out and near the CBD (10 minutes to walk). I hope you gonna enjoy this place as I enjoy it !
We all know that its the people who make a hostel. And the way this hostel is built is great for building a community, with a big kitchen and tabels next to the cooking area, two large TV-rooms and a big chill lobby even with a ping pong table always gives opportunity to meet, connect and enjoy the time. Still it respects the need for private space by having a tent above the beds. I love it here. And the manager are lovely too and for sure have only the best in mind! Amazing place all in all. I love it here :)
My first 2 days here I would have agreed it was the worst hostel ever. People's stuff was strewn everywhere to the point where you could hardly walk. But day 3, and a normal amount of luggage, the floors had been cleaned, bath scrubbed and it was like any normal hostel. Maybe the mess was because it had been a big holiday weekend. The kitchen is huge, and clean, which was nice. But 1) they could use having a system to label food. Japan, on the door to storage, they had installed a pen, slips of paper asking name, room #, checkout date; with roll of tape. Impressive! 2) Spiral wanted you to wash and dry your dishes but they were constantly running out of drying towels. I agree about the crinkly pillows. A nuisance every time you turn over. The location cannot be beat. So near the bus and train stations, near a huge IGA supermarket, lots of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. So I'd say what you see all depends on the day. I saw no bugs. A few flies came in when the doors were open.
