Staying at Pirates truly has felt like being part of a family. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming staff made us feel right at home. This small, cozy hostel has such a personal, intimate vibe—like staying with friends you’ve just met but already trust. Vaughan, Valentina and all the staff go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable, from sharing local tips to helping with any special requests. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and full of character, with just the right amount of space. I loved the cozy common areas where it was easy to relax, chat, and bond with other travelers. It's the kind of place where people really connect, and it’s not just about the stay, but the experience of being around others who feel like family. The hostel is also in a fantastic location, perfect for exploring the city while still offering a peaceful, quiet environment to unwind at the end of the day. You can tell Vaughan the owner truly cares about creating a welcoming environment, there’s so much love and attention to detail in everything they do. If you're looking for a place that feels like a second home, this is it. I left with new friends and amazing memories, and I can't wait to return. And it's truly with a heavy heart we are leaving. We highly recommend to anyone looking for a more personal, family-like experience! Thanks team. We will be back at some point for sure! ?

I am having a great time staying at Pirates Backpackers! From the beginning the vibe in the hostel was great and all the friendly staff on site make you feel welcome immediately. Big thanks also to Vaughan who is always making sure everyone is having a good time and offering assistance where he can. He actually helped me with getting a job nearby inside of 2 days! This hostel also attracts the best people as it is a highly social hostel. There is a very good family dynamic with everyone getting to know everyone very quickly. The Pirates Crew also offers events to participate in every day of the week to make it even easier for you to become part of the group. Special shout out to the soccer we played in the park and the fun trivia nights with Grandmaster James. Definitely a wonderful place to stay in Freo!

I absolutely love my stay at this beautiful and cozy hostel. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The location couldn’t be more perfect – everything you need is just around the corner, and it’s easy to explore the city from here. The rooms are clean and charming, the outside area is cozy and welcoming, with thoughtful details that make the whole place feel special. This hostel has an unique vibe that’s hard to find – a mix of comfort, community, and charm. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed and friendly place to stay.

I first came here on the recommendation of some friends and have not left since. What can I say, Pirates is my safe place when I need to feel at home. The location is perfect, the rooms are made for socializing but also allow you to have your own space, the people are just great. The staff is always nice and friendly (special note to Vale, the receptionist, she is always ready to greet you and help you with a smile). Highly recommended!?‍☠️✨

Pirates Backpackers is a home away from home. I came back 3 times and every time is a different but unique experience. The place is really cozy and it feels like being in a big house. Valentina is always ready to help everyone with a big smile! I recommend to come here if you want good memories and a big new family :)
