My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the IO and had a great week. Quirky, retro, lots of entertainment nightly, clean, great beds, daily room refresh, and superb morning coffee from the bar. Staff were really friendly across the hotel but top marks goes out to Jess on the front desk who was a font of knowledge and always had a smile.. In the bar area There is a wall of photographs dedicated to local Scarborough stretching back 100years… Go visit… We recommend! Cheers Jo and Simon. UK.
I love this hotel, I get the pool view room which is very spacious and has a view of the pool. Love the retro theme throughout the hotel, beds are comfy and air-conditioning works great. For the price of this hotel I think it's value for money. They even had my room ready at 10am when check in was at 3, I got to check in early which was fantastic. Love the 24/7 reception, all the staff are lovely to deal with. Great location too!
I really enjoyed my stay here, it may not have flash rooms but they were clean and a good size for the price. We could walk to our event in under ten minutes so location was perfect. The bathrooms were clean, a little small but again for the price we were happy. Carpets were clean and bed was super cumfy. Highlights for me was their beautiful bar area, pool area and cocktail lounge. Was such a suprise how beautiful it was, their was wonderful acoustic music playing and the atmosphere was truly lovely. Another highlight was the staff, really lovely, friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would happily stay here again.
Had a one night stay at the Indian Ocean Hotel about a week ago, after flying in from Bali. Loved the retro theme and groovy rooms. We were welcomed at reception (24 hrs) by a lovely lady that greeted up with a warm welcome and a smile, gave us good info and were given tokens for two complimentary drinks (a good selection in drinks fridge in reception) to take up to our room. Being a Saturday night there was loud music and noise from downstairs, which we expected so came prepared with earplugs, (I'm pretty sure the glass sliding door to balcony was double glazed as it did block a lot of the noise). Room was clean and spacious, bed was big (king size) and comfy, with nice clean linen, (extra pillows and blanket were in wardrobe) The menu for downstairs restaurant looked fabulous and well priced, but as we got in late we didn't bother eating. Lots of wardrobe space and the normal tea & coffee making facilities were in room. The only negatives I could find were: 1. The lack of ANY bench top around basin or shelving in the bathroom, (the basin is the old free standing type) and we thought the addition of some wall shelving (there is room for this) would be a big bonus and a relatively cheap fix. 2. Only having one bedside table to put things on, charge devices etc, (there's heaps of room for another bedside table). 3. A couple of wine glasses would be a welcome addition (Not really a negative but a suggestion) Apart from that I recommend it as a groovy, relatively inexpensive place to stay in a great location (but if you come on weekend, and your not going to be down at Indi Bar enjoying the music) bring earplugs!! Will definitely be back :)
This is a good, budget place to stay. My room was great. Although the decor is not that new, everything is clean, well maintained, and works. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. It would be great if they had breakfast available.
