Jalan Pantai Cenang, Kedah, 07000 Langkawi, Malaysia
Really enjoyed my stay here! Felt immediately welcomed by Chief and the many kitten running around. Tucked away from the main strip, nice cheap restaurants nearby. Many clean shower and toilets, convenient laundry line. Did not have any bug or noise issue despite the open-windows design. Stayed in other places in Langkawi and liked this one the most !
Very nice guesthouse with a very chill atmosphere and good value for your money. It is in a quiet location, very close to the beach and just off the main street, where there is plenty of dining and shopping options. The cabin was pretty basic but clean, spacious and comfortable. The AC was very much appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
The location and decoration of the guesthouse were great, although they had fewer means, but the place was clean. We were ten people who stayed there in different rooms between family and friends. Pea and Ali were nice to meet. Pea from the management tesm was really great, and her smile was always there. I guess it is part of the local of this island where you can find peace and so many soft and kind people who will make your stay anywhere is their first priority. If I had another chance, I would surely like and vote for Langkawi. There are so many photos that I have to get out of the Nikon cam before loading
I stayed in a private room at Gecko Guest House and had a good experience overall. The room and bathroom were clean, and the location is excellent—just 300 meters from Pantai Cenang Beach. Shops, restaurants, markets, and tour operators are all just steps away. The AC worked perfectly, and they provided unlimited drinking water. The host was very friendly and shared great tips on what to see and do in the area. For the price, it’s a great deal! Just keep in mind that the room is quite basic, the tiles are a bit old, and they only provide a small soap—no full toiletries. The place has a lot of cats so keep that in mind they are friendly and mind their own business, But given the budget-friendly price, it’s still a solid option.
Overall, our stay at this hostel was nice enough! The location was perfect with lots of nice restaurants and the beach nearby. For the low price, we can not complain, and the private room was a welcome escape from staying in dorm rooms. It was social, and the outdoor area was set up nicely with good amenities like free water and a book swap, etc. However, the room we stayed in was incredibly hot! It's too hot to sleep in comfortably, and we really struggled with it. I've stayed in fan only rooms plenty of times before this and can not understand why this room in particular was so bad! The bathrooms weren't very clean, the same rubbish was left in there all 3 nights we were there (including a cigarette on the floor of the shower!), and I got at least 2 mosquito bites every time I showered. This is a personal preference, but the amount of cats in the hostel space was a little uncomfortable, at one point I had one climb on me and stick claws in me which I really did not want! When we tried to pay and check out, we could not find any staff at all, and it wasn't even very early (about 8.40). We had to leave the money and key by the bar, which didn't feel right at all. I'm not sure I'd stay again, but we appreciated it for what it was given the low price.
