I thought that it was a good idea and it turned out that I was correct. This hotel is actually a ship that is over 100 years old so you are actually staying in a historical site. There was ferry terminal transfer, though I only found out when I arrived, what a pleasant surprise. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is quiet, we were not there during the week end, if you want to have a good rest and the hotel restaurant food is good and reasonably priced. The view here is fantastic too. On my way home it is only a 10 mins walk but don't bother, they will send you there free of charge.
This hotel was honestly not part of my original resort retreat plan - chose to stay here first due to its super convenient location and lower price than many of the resorts as I expect little time in hotel for the first day when i travel out. But honestly - this is such a great experience and strongly recommend you to consider visiting! It is a 111 yr-old ship with rich history behind it, but facilities are well-maintained. Certainly, one can't compare to 5-star luxurious resorts but it is beyond decent. Room is spacious (to be fair could be that i got the executive suite but it isn't expensive anyways). Love the view straight outside of my room, and the infinity pool! Staff here also make me feel more than welcomed, especially knowing I travel on my own. Hope more people visit, especially cuz all its proceeds go to charity. I think a mix of stay in this and a "traditional" resort as I did is the perfect balance. To the hotel team, thanks for making my stay super enjoyable! Terimakasih!
Love it! When I first looked for a hotel in Lagoi, Bintan, Doulos Phos came in and I thought it would be an amazing experience for kids, staying at a ship. And yes it's worth it! This was an almost 111 years old ship turning into a hotel, located at a reclamation area. There's a ship tour every 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You should join. The guide will first explain using the slide show and then he'll take you on a tour around the ship explaining the history too! The pool location was amazing, especially for sunset. You can just sit there and watch for the sunset. Our room was spacious, the bathroom was too.
Post-wedding, we decided to stay here as we have seen The Ship Hotel in 2023 when we visited Bintan and stayed in another accommodation. While the grand opening will happen some time later in 2025, the current pre-opening state left us wishing we had booked our stay a day ot two longer. I have always been a big fan of cruises and really enjoyed outcome of refurbishment of this ship of more than 100 years old. Everything was left as authentic as possible and we liked the thoughtfulness that came with planning every aspect of this (which guests will find out when they join the complimentary heritage tour). Every aspect of our stay has been very pleasant with staff being very friendly and personable, and we enjoyed the welcome drink served in a little float, as well as the infinity pool by the sea. It is evident that details are important to the steward, Mr Eric Saw. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Bintan!
Very convenient location just 2 mins drive from the ferry terminal. Nice sea view just right outside the hotel ? Staff were all friendly & the hotel even has a free ship tour where we got to go into the ship's engine room and other enclosed areas to look around. 4 course dinner & breakfast was quite yummy too. One suggestion will be to provide free extra pillows and extra water when requested.
