新界沙田安平街1号 Shatin, Sha Tin, Hong Kong
A comfortable and reasonably priced place to stay for those looking to stay outside of the central Hong Kong area. Although it's not ideal for tourists, Sha Tin is still a great place to stay and the Courtyard is well located, being close to She Kou station which has many good food options, and a short bus or hotel shuttle away from Sha Tin New Town. The rooms are pretty great for a budget brand. Service is good, staff were friendly and helpful. The river view room actually has a pretty great view. Breakfast is okay but reasonable for a hotel of this class. Don't bother with the pastries or cheeses as they are stale, but the hot food is fine. I wouldn't pay too much extra for it though. The executive lounge is quite small, with just soft drinks for most of the day. It's a good and bright place to work from. For the evening between 5 to 7 there's a small food and alcohol selection and it got really crowded at this time.
Have stayed twice here now at the Courtyard and must say it’s a real gem of a hotel. While it might be a little far out of the city for some, Hong Kong really didn’t that far away and the MTR stop is super close by. It’s also a very easy direct bus journey to the airport which I found very convenient. The hotel facilities are above what you’d expect of a typical courtyard. The gym is well equipped and the pool area is quite large. Be aware it does shut during thunderstorms. The greatest perk is the sauna and steam rooms located in the changing areas. Perfect way to unwind after a long day of walking about. The Executive lounge on the top floor has some great views of the surrounding area and offers decent enough snacks and drinks in the evening but you will still be going out for a main meal. The staff at the hotel have always been very polite and welcoming, shout out to Luise in the exec lounge for the pineapple! Breakfast offering is quite expansive but try to avoid the busy rush hour if you can.
Room was nice, but having stayed for a month got a little old. Cleaning was great, and service generally was fine. Laundry service could have been better, and sometimes a wait for taxis. Sha tin is not central, so although there are a few shops and restaurants, it's a long (but convenient) train ride into tst or central
The room I choose had a stunning view and was considerably large for the price I paid for. The service included the 30tb floor tea and the morning buffet breakfast. I enjoyed the breakfast and tea the most since I am a big eater but as well it included delicious and savoury dishes in the tea session as well as the morning breakfast. The tea included unlimited soft drinks and savoury dim sum. The breakfast included noodles, three choices of eggs boiled , sunny or scrambled. It was a delightful visit and stay over for the night.
Staffs were super friendly and passionate. Booked a Cityview Guest Room from Agoda. Reasonable price on a public holiday night. Thick mattress, not to dry air-con, easy-to-adjust shower temperature. Enjoyed the pool, opening in Apr to Oct. Level 30 bar with a great view (no photos taken), but only opened up to 23:30, last order at 22:30. A small disappointment - the description and photos in Agoda show the presence of a bathtub, while there isn’t one in Guest Rooms level, as confirmed with the front-desk. Should be Agoda’s fault. Be careful when booking.
