Extremely crowded place. Accessible via Metro. Lot of scenic spots to take photos, small eats/street food, restaurants etc. The prices for the crab soup dumpling is very high, I.e. 36 - 48 RMB per piece. So look carefully when placing order. The vibes were pretty with the night lighting! Can easily spend a couple of hours walking around. Be mindful to take good care of your belongings.

We returned again in the evening, and we are glad we did — the entire street transforms at night. The traditional architecture lights up beautifully, creating a magical ambiance perfect for photography and soaking in the historic charm. The buildings quite literally come to life with warm lights outlining their intricate rooftops. Do note that shops close around 10 PM, and the lights are turned off shortly after, so plan your visit accordingly if you are aiming to capture the night views. Overall, Yuyuan Old Street is a must-visit in Shanghai for those looking to experience culture, food, and traditional Chinese architecture, all in one place — both day and night offer their own unique charm.

Amongst the skyscrapers & old European architecture, is the old Chinatown which is really their for tourists. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, & it was very busy. The architecture was great to wander through with a great variety of shops & restaurants to look at. Our guide showed us the chocolate animal statues. We didn't enter the gardens but did walk across the bridges for the famous photos. Lots of ladies dressed in traditional outfits being photographed.

A must-visit coming to Shanghai. Right by the subway station so it was easy to go there. We spent the whole evening there exploring the old streets. A lot of coffee shops, souvenir stores and dining places. The decorations were so Chinese and beautiful. You would expect the crowd there, but it was so fun and beautiful

Walking through Yuyuan Old Street felt like stepping back in time. The old-style buildings and the smell of freshly cooked dumplings filled the air. It was busy and full of life, with people talking, shopping, and taking photos. It was fun, tasty, and very cultural. This is one of the must visit place in shanghai.
