I was very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this temple. The temple is very special in its own way and I saw many rituals here during my visit. By far the most beautiful thing is the dragon altar in the central garden... behind the temple there is a beautifully decorated garden with representations of the Chinese zodiac. For the most beautiful pictures you can try the upper floor... in the distance the Merdeka Tower and the Radio tower rises high and leaves you with a dream view. In the basement there are a few souvenir shops and some Chinese food and drinks, a place where I was able to try the egg boiled in tea.

One of the most important and beautiful temples in kl not to be missed. Well maintained with lots of beautiful sculptures and decorations around. Try visiting before 8pm to witness the beautiful temple with lights. Min 1+ hrs required to completely cover the temple. The temple is uphill so plan accordingly .

I visited the temple out of curiosity and liked how decorated it is with lanterns and well maintained. They're welcoming to all and you can take photos and videos as long as you're respectful. It's free of charge and I'd recommend you dress decently out of respect.

Thean Hou Temple is one of the most beautiful and iconic Buddhist temples in Kuala Lumpur, a must-visit for both tourists and locals. It’s perched on a hill, offering a peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views of the city. The architecture is absolutely stunning, blending modern and traditional elements with intricate carvings, colorful lanterns, and vibrant murals. It’s dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu, but you’ll also find influences from Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism throughout. It’s not just a spiritual site ,it’s also a photographer’s dream, especially during festivals or when the lanterns are lit in the evening. The temple grounds are well maintained, with quiet corners for reflection and beautiful gardens. Parking is RM5 on normal days, and there's ample space, which makes visiting more convenient. Entry to the temple itself is free, making it an affordable and enriching cultural stop. Highly recommended for those interested in Chinese culture, architecture, or simply looking for a peaceful escape in the city.

Not knowingly, we visited on a Buddhist holiday so there was a lot of people visiting. It took a long time to get Grab when leaving. We came during the day and will have to return during golden hour or evening time because the temple itself is very beautiful with all the lanterns. Entrance is free and there’s even a food court on site.
