Kandy, Sri Lanka
A serene and peaceful visit. We went in the afternoon, and while the heat was intense, the experience was still worth it. Keep in mind, you’ll need to remove your shoes at the ticket counter, so carrying a pair of socks is a smart move! The temple itself is stunning, with beautiful architecture and a deeply calming atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to pause, reflect, or even sit for a quiet meditation. Do note: modest clothing is required; no sleeveless tops or shorts. Make sure you’re dressed appropriately to enter the temple grounds. When we visited in February 2025, parts of the temple were under construction, including the museum. But even with the renovation work, the place carried a sense of peace and spiritual energy. I’d recommend visiting in the early morning or late evening for a more comfortable experience.
Visiting the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy was a truly special experience. The atmosphere inside the temple is incredibly serene, and there's a strong sense of spirituality and reverence that surrounds the entire place. The architecture is beautiful and rich with history, and I was in awe of how well everything is preserved. Seeing the Sacred Tooth Relic, even from a distance, felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The rituals and offerings were fascinating to witness, and I appreciated how the temple maintains its traditions so gracefully. The scent of incense, the sound of drums during the pooja, and the soft chants made the whole experience very calming. It does get quite crowded during the main pooja times, but that just shows how important this place is to so many people. I’d recommend going early in the morning or late evening for a quieter experience. Overall, a visit to Dalada Maligawa is not just a sightseeing stop – it’s a journey into the heart of Sri Lanka’s culture, history, and spirituality. Definitely a must-visit in Kandy

Our first visit to the sacred Dalada Maligawa after our wedding was truly a blessing beyond words. Surrounded by the beauty of ancient architecture and deep spiritual energy, we felt a profound sense of peace and gratitude. The temple's timeless grace, rich history, and serene atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. Walking hand in hand through this sacred place, we began our new journey together with hearts full of love and blessings. A truly divine start to our married life.
A good place to visit in Kandy! But DO NOT take any tour guide, the temple is small so you can figure your way around plus it also has spots to read Buddha’s history from as well. No need to waste time & money with the guides. Entrance ticket cost is LKR 1500
