Established in 1939! We visited October/28/2019 Best thing about this place is 100% vegetarian food. Humble owner is helpful as other staff has language problem. Cleanliness is quite compromising but quality and quantity of the food compensate. Simple restaurant, simple furniture and food on banana leaves. Rates are quite less. Best Indian food in Kandy! Great variety and good customer service. They serve all sorts of indian/ tamil food. Laddoos were fresh and delicious! They served us cheese parotta, paneer parotta, ghee masala dosa, vade and more

Located in the heart of Kandy near the central market & opp Police station, Sri Ganeshanand Brahmins hotel board can be easily missed. Its old & not legible. The hotel has the vibe of most south indian hotels. Luckily the 86 yr old owner Mr. Panaiyadiyan Pillai was himself starting lunch. He spoke good English & guided us. Gandhiji had visited his restaurant I heard. The quantity of food they serve & rates are inversely proportional. We returned 3 of the 5 wadas when we saw a giant dosa arrive. We could not finish that dosa too. Lunch, which we didn't have but he gave Chana dish for taste was amazing. Earlier day we’d eaten at Balaji dosai & we felt it was hyped up with Europeans. Srikrishna dosai is good. Mr. Pillai should arrange a good hand wash basin. And a board which announces the extreme value for money prices. The hotel will draw much larger crowds.

Authentic Sri Lankan/Southern Indian food (dosas and banana leaf rice with vegetarian curry) in a family-like environment. One of the best meal we had in Sri Lanka!

One of the best indian food experience you'll ever have. The authentic experience with the staff who'll serve you food just on a fresh banana leaf, which is truly amazing. The Ghee dosa is one of the best that can serve barely 2 individuals. Ulundu wade and dhal wade gives you the maximum experience of fresh, mouth watering indian food. Hot hot fresh milk is the signature for this stole, you'll definitely go again to have a sip from that. Worth the money and highly recommended to anyone who is searching for relaxed, authentic indian cuisine experience. The only difficulty is the lack of parking availability in the area which is common to Kandy.
