Alright, let's set the scene: me, an atheist, standing in this serene pagoda. Now, you might think, "What’s an atheist doing at a place of worship?" Well, it turns out, watching people practice their faith is oddly fascinating! This place is a sanctuary of calm in the bustling city, with the scent of incense in the air and a gentle hum of prayers around you. The architecture? Stunning. The carvings? Intricate and beautiful. And the people? Full of devotion, lighting incense and making offerings with a kind of grace and sincerity that’s both humbling & uplifting. So, if you're in Ho Chi Minh City, whether you're a believer or not, this pagoda is worth a visit. It's like stepping into a different world where you can observe, reflect, and just take a moment to appreciate the diversity of human expression.

Quan Am Temple is a Chinese-style Buddhist temple located on Lao Tu Street in Cho Lon, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Founded in the 19th century, it is dedicated to Guanyin, the Chinese goddess of mercy and the Chinese form of the Indian bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Tara is a female Buddha and goddess in Buddhism who is considered a saviour and a source of enlightenment. She is also known as the "Mother of all Buddhas" and the "Wisdom Goddess". Appearance Tara is often depicted seated on a lotus throne She is sometimes depicted with a white or green color scheme She is sometimes depicted with skulls, which symbolize mortality Origin According to Tibetan mythology, Tara originated from tears shed by the Buddhist god Avalokiteshvara In popular belief, a tear from Avalokiteshvara fell to the ground, forming a lake, and a lotus rose from the water, revealing Tara Significance Tara is a compassionate deity who helps people "cross to the other shore" She is the protectress of navigation, earthly travel, and spiritual travel She is believed to be a source of the female aspect of the universe She is especially revered in Vajrayana Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism

Pros: 1. Peaceful and serene place to worship. 2. Convenient location to travel either using your own car or motorbike or by travelling with transportation services (e.g. Grab, Be, Xanh SM). 3. Helpful street vendors. 4. Open and airy space. Cons: 1. Visitors should respect the serenity of this place by avoiding taking photos and videos and putting silent their mobile phones. 2. Foreigner travellers should behave properly when visiting this place by following and respecting dress codes when visiting temples or pagodas.

It’s big, smoky, and packed with statues, and the heavy scent of incense. Amazing atmosphere with gold aesthetic. Right in the middle of city

A very beautiful and colorful temple hidden in a small street. There are many interesting traditions there I want to experience. On the opposite side of the temple, there was a small pond with fish. I was there on a normal weekday at quite an early hour in the morning so the temple was not crowded. Outside, there were many street vendors that people could buy stuff to bring into the temple to offer and pray.
