42 Ichijoji Takenouchicho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, 606-8134, Japan
Very silent place, when i just got in, i thought its a boring place, but walk here for 20 mins, everybody got exhausted, its nice to rltake and rest and wait to see the night maple
This is one of my favorite temple in Kyoto. It's just so beautiful at the pathway to temple entrance on a sunny day.
I visited the site with my professor and lab mates. We went to Kinzuka, a tomb dedicated for bacteria and other microbes. There we pray in tribute to the microbes we've used for our research. Overall, the scenery was beautiful.
Any place else but Kyoto and I’d likely say five stars. However, in comparison to many other Kyoto temples, it isn’t quite to that level (in my opinion). The two main drawbacks are (1) the extreme slog you’ll have to take to get here; it’s WAY up a steep hill close to almost nothing else and at least 30 minutes on foot from the nearest station, and (2) you can’t walk in the garden itself. It IS a beautiful garden and the temple itself IS very nice. I just prefer ones where you can walk through and “forest bathe” in the garden a little more directly.
Ancient Japanese temple. Nice visit. I recommend it.
