It displays a lot of ancient items and stories. There are sufficient number of visitors when I visited on 3 June.

There is also a bunker that shows the historical map of Vietnam. There is sufficient aircon to cool yourself down.

There is also a small temple of 2 storeys that has narrow walkway.

Really, really enjoyed this place, but mainly because of all of the people that were dressed up. I’m not sure if this was normal but strongly suspect it was because of International Womens Day  (March 8/2025). The compound was extensive and there were one of two buildings with exhibits. Lots of grounds to view - a few gardens (though nothing in bloom at the time we visited). There are large grassed areas, places to sit, a bit of a children’s play area and even a small coffee shop and a photo shop if you’d like to dress up in traditional garb. We met lots of friendly faces and had a lot of fun on what turned out to be a very special and colourful day.

This place is worth a visit but manage your expectations as a lot of the buildings are run down or just empty. They aren’t the main part of the historic unesco site but are within the grounds. Take cash as any good or shops within the site only take cash. A lot of people are there just for the instagram opportunity and not the history so be prepared for people renting outfits or taking forever on sections just to snap that photo ?

This place is too large to walk so it took me 4 hours to explore the whole place. However, this trip gave me a lot of knowledge about the history, culture and people of Vietnam. The most impressive thing is the water puppet show performed here, it is really funny. ???
In addition, besides Thang Long Imperial Citadel, this place also organizes many interesting music and culinary events that attract tourists such as Thai festival.
