50 Ferrymead Park Drive, Ferrymead, Christchurch 8022, New Zealand
Even though we were there for about an hour and a half (right at the end of the day) it was an absolute blast of a time. It was awesome with the old steam trains and trams there. The staff were kind and pointed us In the right direction when we got lost but definitely go in the sunny days awesome views and you can travel around the whole village visiting different shops and even a fire station museum. We only had time to go on the steam train but next time we will definitely go on the tram.
It was extremely quiet as we went on a Sunday and the train/tram don't run on the day. That being said, it is all run by volunteers and we met some lovely people and learnt new things. Kids really enjoyed it as well. Big thank you to the lady in the general store (from Somerset) who was lovely and so passionate. She shared a lot of interesting fact. Big thank you to the gentleman who was doing the ferrymead radio (American who flew for the US navy) and let us come into the studio.
Great place with lots to do and see. Parking was relatively easy since we arrived early entrance by the "old post office". Lots of old shops and houses to visit set out in an easily navigable layout. There is also a heritage tram and a heritage steam railway ride. The rain didn't dampen our spirits and we could have stayed longer. This was definitely worth a visit
It's a great experience, only once a month, in an old village museum, but the ticket is 5 NZD
Great place to visit, plenty to look at, would take kids there. Just a bit spread out for anyone who has walking problems. Enjoyed talking to people around the village.
