Located in a “temple complex” at north west side of Kyoto. The complex is already nice enough to walk around. The temple itself is small but the highlight is the one of the earliest firearms exhibited in the temple. Also there are three zen garden, one of them claims to be the smallest one. The entrance fee is very affordable and there are not much crowd in the temple. Even though it’s hot to visit to here in the summer, it worths because of the aesthetics of the zen garden.

It is quite small and it's highly overshadowed by the immaculate Obai-in next door. But it is still a nice calm Zen temple to relax in and de-stress from a hectic vacation.

Must visit for those who is interested in spiritual and aesthetic aspects of Japanese culture. Better visit in cloudy or slightly rainy weather. In such days gardens look much better

What an amazing experience this is. I ask all that visit to pause for 15 minutes and absorb the zen atmosphere. This zen garden also has some amazing historical significance so it is a must stop on any tour.
