Fairly easy to intermediate trek depending on the routes or loops you choose. The area and trails around are also well-maintained and highly-accessible from multiple entrances. Summit is low compared to hills in Malaysia or Indonesia but make up with it being a safe trail for family activities, and to experience its biodiversity of wildlife and plants. Look out for Monkeys, Wild Boars, Snakes and Insects. Weekends and public holidays can be quite crowded.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is home to Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore’s highest natural point, making it a great destination for nature lovers and hikers. Located in the Bukit Timah neighborhood, the reserve features well-maintained trails that range from easy walks to steep, challenging climbs. Before starting your hike, you can visit the small visitor area with informative exhibits about the reserve’s biodiversity and history. Bukit Timah Hill also holds historical significance as the site of a key World War II battle during the Japanese invasion of Singapore. The hike to the summit is short but steep, offering a refreshing workout with lush greenery. Monkeys are a common sight along the trails, adding to the natural experience. Weekends can get busy, but the peaceful atmosphere and fresh air make it worth the visit. A perfect spot for a quick nature escape!

Started a morning hike from Hillview via Dairy Farm to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. It’s a pleasant 2-hour hike on a sunny day, where we spotted a monitor lizard’s prey (either a frog or mouse) and resident snake, Wagler’s Pit Vipor at the end of the trail.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a great place for a good workout, offering plenty of greenery and scenic trails. It’s a peaceful place to connect with nature and enjoy fresh air. Part of the walkway is currently closed due to landslide. No big issue, just need to walk down the steps and use South View Path to get to the summit.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is a refreshing green getaway right in the heart of the city. The trails are well-marked, and the forest is dense and full of life, you really feel immersed in nature. At the entrance, we encountered a gang of monkeys just hanging out. It was a bit surprising at first, but they didn’t bother anyone. I think they’re used to people walking by, as they kept their distance and didn’t seem aggressive at all. Still, best to avoid holding food in the open! The hike up can be challenging, especially the stairs, but it’s rewarding. The view from the summit isn’t panoramic, but knowing you’re at the highest natural point in Singapore is still a fun accomplishment. Definitely a must-visit for nature lovers or anyone looking to get some fresh air and movement.
