Padang Matsirat, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
Atma Alam Batik Art Village has a large collection of batik products. We saw ladies and men's apparel, shoes, kids clothing and accessories. The batik is made in their own factory which we visited next to the showroom. The staff were friendly and the prices were very reasonable for the good quality of cloth and batik designs. There were modern designs besides traditional ones. They also offer a batik making session for RM 30 but we didn't have the time to try. We ended up buying for ourselves and gifts for friends.
We were specifically for Batik Coloring activity for the kids. We wanted a laid back vacation.. this is definitely on the list. Not many people so the place was kind of quiet. The staffs were really friendly. The ambience was calm and quiet too. The have a range of crafts for you to purchase - batik, songket, shirt, scarf, wall deco, etc.
If you haven’t tried batik painting before, you need to try. My friend is a first timer, he absolutely love it! The outline was already drawn, many art piece to choose from, you just need to colour. I went on Christmas Day, not many people, we get to spend more time here. Many families are here with their children, they seemed to enjoy themselves too! :D
We had a great time here. Chose our design and then had a very chilled time painting Batik. Some nice Batik items to purchase as gifts too. Saw a little of the process but it was the end of the working day and staff had finished up. To fill a couple of hours and for a personal bit of Langkawi tradition to take home, I recommend this activity.
A nice space to peruse. There is a wide variety of clothing, artwork and other Batik goods. Items seem more expensive than other places but the place feels like an art gallery to enjoy. The Batik painting class was 35 MYR. There was a good variety of templates to choose from( birds, flowers, fish, dragons, some landscapes and portraits). Not much in the way of instruction or education on how to paint in this style but a relaxing setting if you are comfortable painting on your own.
