111 Spring St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
A cross between The Shining and Hotel Cortez from American Horror Story. I absolutely loved my stay here. Too often we stay in modern high rise hotels. This place is vintage and a piece of history. It’s not 5 star, and it’s showing its age in some ways, but it’s kept clean, they are treating it with respect and keeping up the maintenance whilst protecting its character. Service has been superb from everyone, breakfast was terrific, If pricey so look for a bed and breakfast package and food and drinks from The Cricketers Arms was great. We got a brilliant deal from Luxury Escapes so take a look at their offers. I travel to Melbourne regularly and will stay here every time. It’s taking a step back in history and following in the footsteps of some characters from history. Plus it’s allegedly haunted. If you’re into the paranormal like me then it’s a must. A big well done to the owners. Too many of these places rot, die or become apartments. Great to see it thriving. Last but not least I wandered into some of their meeting and conference facilities. Great set ups available.
The hotel is charming and full of history, it looks grand especially from its lobby, lounge and the main stairs. The staff is very professional and helpful, they were also surprisingly welcoming^^. The hotel location is spot on also, convenient but no traffic noise issue. Highly recommended for staying.
Stayed at the Hotel Windsor while attending a conference. Loved the atmosphere with the long hallways and the amazing staircases at one end. Everything is so grand, cozy and warm. Nice carpet. My room was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay. I love reading the list of famous people who have stayed there while waiting for the elevator. Close to everything I needed
I wanted to rate the high tea experience with 5 stars, but the desserts were too sweet that I felt having an instant stroke after a lick, so the rating is now 4/5. The historical hotel locates right opposite to the state parliament building, next to a tram stop and Parliament Railway Station. It is easy to get there by public transport, or in your own car if you know the area well like me. The very old yet exquisite outer and inner decorations offer the stay or dinner the full on authentic vintage ambiance. The door boys are friendly but with no guarantee. There were a couple of them pretentiously unseen customers at the door. They only worth 3/5 rating. The staff at the dinning hall were lovely! Both girls and boys were friendly and nice to talk with. They were gorgeous people and know their work well. Windsor Hotel always offers old fashioned yet high quality food. The sandwich and savoury treats never fail to amaze me. However, the desserts were big no no. This can be due to my subtle Asian palate, any high sugar level food would be a bomb. I almost had an instant stoke after a light lick on the chocolate tart. Overall, this experience was lovely. And Windsor remains as my go to place for special experiences.
