A hidden gem, this museum boasts some serious history. Visited here in October and learned a lot about Melbourne's rich history, like about the living conditions, gold rush, and seeing photos comparing the streets of now and then. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you have some spare time on your hands. This isn't a very big building, but it's big in educational value.

Small, high-quality (because informative and thought-provoking) museum in a centrally located grand building. Don't be taken aback at what might appear to be a stranger accosting you -- look for the tiny "Volunteer" badge, they represent the institution. ? How smart uniforms might actually be a class barrier. How the home toilet, fridge, telephone, and television have changed our lives fundamentally. How toys shape gender roles: "A SINGER FOR THE GIRLS Teaches them to make clothes for their dolls AS THE TWIG IS BENT THE TREE'S INCLINED"

We had a fantastic visit to the Old Treasury Building Museum in Melbourne! The exhibits provided a fascinating insight into the city’s early history, from its founding to the development of the Yarra River over the years. The new exhibition, Objects and Family Life, was particularly enjoyable, with some familiar items that sparked great memories. The original fittings and furnishings in the building are absolutely stunning, showcasing incredible craftsmanship from a bygone era. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to assist, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Melbourne’s rich history and heritage!
