Shanti lodge was an amazing place in Bangkok. we stayed short in a small but perfect room. the beds were nice and hard. the breakfast was delicious i reccommend french toast with banana and Khauw tom soup. very good receptionist and servers❤️
I got a private room. It was lovely. up two narrow flights of stairs, nicer than I planned for. (Ask for lower room if that is an issue) it was easy to walk across the fish market to the ferry that went to all the spots. There was always a tut tut or taxi to be found. They thought of everything sending an email about where to get public transit or a taxi at the airport in exactly how much to pay and how not to get conned. They arranged travel to the airport at the end of my trip. But more importantly, it was the perfect homebase. Beautiful interesting, in a neighborhood half a block from a temple or a fish market, easy to travel from nice, to come home to. Happy the host asked if I would rather sit with the other solo travelers and then took me over and introduced me, starting interesting conversations. The couple with the small children had a place for the children to play on the other side of the restaurant, often with the toddler of the woman working there and I watch them get all the recommendations they needed for a lovely trip. Best to book on their website and skip the booking sites.
if you want to be close to touristic spots and not to pay too much, Shanti Lodge is a good alternative, very cozy, like a Thai house with cat, small pool with fish inside, Thai style restaurant, close to river boat landing. do not expect fancy rooms, but good value for money ?
This hotel is conveniently located in a non-touristy street, but close to the taxi ferry. It's quiet, which we loved. The rooms are small, but cozy and clean. WiFi is terrible and there's no fridge. Hotel offers luggage storage (for a fee). I'm surprised they don't offer drinking water at all and no one came in to clean our room, even though we stayed 4 nights. The Thai owner speaks fluent English. He's very friendly. Most ladies however ignore you and don't even greet you when you enter. The kids enjoyed watching the turtles in the small pond in the restaurant. There are no restaurants nearby except the Shanti restaurant which is expensive (if you prefer to eat with the locals like us). But right across the hotel there's - a 7-Eleven - a hairdresser - laundry service - a ฿1/1 litre drinking water dispenser
Lovely place with so many plants and cosy atmosphere! We stayed here for 3 nights & got a free upgrade for a room with AC (which i recommend). Simply and clean room, quiet area and easy to reach other places via taxi or Grab.
