Clean 5 story hotel. Nice free tea n coffee for guest in lobby
It is a hotel that looks a bit old but the facilities are very well maintained, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are very nice, in the lobby there is a free tea and coffee bar. and in the day rent bicycles. It is a nice place and very quiet. Before I forget in bed, they leave you very nice nightgowns.
I love this hotel. Stayed here twice and both times it has been comfortable and (price-wise) extremely reasonable, especially for Kyoto. Positives: (1) Price. I stayed Saturday and Sunday night at the end of July, nearly high season, for under ¥13000 (no meals). I don’t know any other place you can do that and get a normal sized private room. (2) Rental bicycles are well maintained and CHEAP. ¥1000 for a full day, electric assist? Can’t find that ANYWHERE else. (3) Giant lounge with free tea and water on the first floor. (4) Nishijin area - where the hotel is - is a surprisingly fun and lesser visited part of Kyoto. Excellent traditional Japanese sweet stores are just a 3 minute walk away. Try the 五色豆 (5 color beans!) place around the big intersection next to the takoyaki place. They’ve been in business for hundreds of years and have stuff you won’t find many other places anymore. “Negatives”: I don’t find these to be negatives, but you might. (1) Rooms are pretty small. Then again they are still bigger than the average Japanese business hotel (and cheaper too). (2) Location. It isn’t that close to a station. About 10 minutes from Imadegawa subway station. Then again, you need the exercise and the neighborhoods is quieter than downtown. (3) The bathroom is a bit tight. However, if you really want to stretch out, there are a BUNCH of public baths within 15-30 minutes on foot from the hotel. Funaoka Onsen is justifiably famous and Hakusan-Yu is just 5-10 mins away with a powerful sauna. I love this place. I just hope it doesn’t become too popular because I want to stay here again.
Nice hotel
