No.46, Fangjia Hutong, Beijing, China, 100007
Cozy place in the main district of Beijing. Staff are friendly - some can speak English, others make it work with translator apps. Bathrooms have glass walls (there's a blind that can be drawn to mainly cover it). Breakfast buffet is small, but convenient. Some rooms are quite noisy as there's a bar downstairs. Cigarette smoke wafted in one night. Be aware that there's more than one Nostalgia Hotel in Beijing. I intended to book at the same hotel as a friend, and we ended up 8 km away from each other. The hotel website made no mention that there's multiple locations.
The hotel has a great, central location close to many small shops, bars and several subway stations within a 10 minutes walking-distance. The decor of the hotel and the rooms is very old-school stylish, with wooden furniture and a solid bed. The room is spacious and the bathroom - made entirely of glass - has everything you need and lots of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste etc). You can roll down a bamboo curtain, to shield the bathroom from the windows and the bedside. However, this does not enclose completely, so be aware of this if you are sharing the room with someone. The staff was very nice - especially the cleaning personnel who left gifts and nice messages for me. The people at the reception didn't understand a lot of English, but they made do with what they had. If you plan on having breakfast, it is fairly cheap, but you have to pay cash instantly. The breakfast selection is limited but very tasty! I can definitely recommend staying here. (The Wi-Fi was very slow and fell out all the time, but it could have been because I had the room furthest away (or because of the great firewall of China). )
The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. The room was pleasant and sheets and towels were changed every day. The hotel is close to Lama and Confucius Temple. The neighborhood is lively and quiet. Metro numbers 2 and 19 are also very close.
Important: when trying to find this place on Google maps, search for the exact adress : 46 fangjia hutong. The courtyard entrance ist about halfway between the two ends of the street. Knowing this, the Hotel is easily reachable as it is close to the final stop of the airport line. The staff speak only Chinese, but are very polite and helpful. Rooms are nice, clean and supplied daily with free bottled water. Breakfast is great as well.
