Location, location, location; perfect for exploring Georgetown. All of the best things to see and do are within walking distance of this hotel. Clean, comfortable room, great shower with complimentary breakfast which set us up nicely for a day of exploration. Hotel staff were friendly and informative. Would to anyone travelling to Georgetown, an affordable and great stay!
We spent a week staying at Nam Keng Hotel. Location was perfect for exploring the old town. Room was comfortable and although facing the street, was not too noisy. Breakfast whilst a bonus, was the same each day- possibly could be varied a bit with the addition of some fresh fruit. A big thank you to Tarin from reception who was extremely helpful and friendly during our stay.
Nam Keng Hotel was a lovely stay overall, and I really enjoyed my time there. We stayed for two nights in Room 201, and while the room itself wasn’t big, it felt cozy and homey, which made the experience comfortable. One major downside was the water heater, even after switching it on outside the bathroom and waiting for a while, the water just wouldn’t turn hot. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it was a bit inconvenient. Breakfast was simple but homey, served from 8 AM, which was a nice touch. However, the biggest highlight of our stay was the thoughtful staff. We had to check out at 4 AM, and to our surprise, they prepared two sandwich packages for us before we left. That small gesture really made an impact and showed their excellent hospitality. The location is another huge plus, it’s super central, making it easy to walk around and explore all the cool spots in Penang. Overall, aside from the hot water issue, I really loved this hotel and would definitely recommend it for a warm, cozy, and convenient stay in Penang!
Lovely hotel - the room was spacious with a closet, desk and a couple of chairs. Very clean and comfortable. Great shower! The staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the historic building. Great location for walking around Penang. Massage place across the street was also good. The breakfast wasn't much - fruit would be a great addition. I would suggest reserving without breakfast as there are many cafe's near by offering very nice breakfasts.
Nestled just a short walk from Komtar, Nam Keng Hotel is easily one of the most beautiful boutique hotels I’ve stayed in. This charming 3-star hotel, housed in a heritage building dating back to the 1900s, offers a unique blend of elegance and history with just thoughtfully designed rooms. The interior is absolutely stunning — from the intricate old marble details to the classic Chinese furnishings and antique furniture, every corner of the hotel oozes timeless beauty and sophistication. The receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful, adding a warm touch to our stay. Rooms come with breakfast included, served daily at the cozy space just behind the check-in counter from 8am to 10am. However, we skipped the hotel breakfast to explore Penang’s famous local delicacies instead. If you're looking for a peaceful, elegant, and centrally located place to stay in George Town with a strong heritage vibe, Nam Keng Hotel is an excellent choice. Loved every bit of our stay. Highly recommended!
