8 Club St, Singapore 069472
I recently stayed at Mercure Icon Singapore City Centre and had a comfortable stay with some standout features. Location: Excellent! Right in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance to Chinatown, Clarke Quay, and MRT stations. Perfect for exploring Singapore's attractions and dining spots. Room: Modern and clean with a stylish design, though the space was a bit compact (fine for solo travelers or couples). The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was well-maintained. Amenities: The rooftop pool was fantastic—great for relaxing with a view of the city skyline. The gym was small but had enough equipment for a decent workout. Note: I didn’t try the breakfast, so I can’t comment on the food. Service: Staff were polite and efficient—check-in/out was smooth, and they were helpful with local recommendations. Overall: A great mid-range hotel in a prime location. The room size was just okay, but the convenience, cleanliness, and rooftop pool made up for it. Ideal for travelers who want a well-located, no-fuss stay.
I had such a great time staying here during my trip to Singapore. The hotel is super well located — I could walk to Chinatown in just a few minutes, and getting to Marina Bay was quick and easy. There are also lots of little cafes and food spots nearby, which I really enjoyed exploring. The room was quiet, very clean, and had a really cozy vibe. The staff were always kind and ready to help, which made the whole experience feel really smooth and welcoming. The pool and gym were a great bonus — it was so nice to cool off after a warm day out, or get a quick workout in. And the breakfast was lovely too, with a nice variety of options to start the day right. It was the perfect base for discovering the city, and I’d definitely come back next time!
The hotel was very well-located, with an MRT station (Telok Ayer) connected right underneath at the B1 level; the underground passage also had some shops, plus provided access to a commercial center across the street. There are also two other MRT stations within walking distance (Maxwell and Chinatown), along with a couple of bus stops. It was in the heart of Chinatown, nearby tons of bars and restaurants. Plus, there were about four or five walkable hawker centers, making it a great middle point if you want to focus your trip on those. Most other tourist attractions are 20–30 mins by MRT or 10–15 minutes by car. The hotel itself is very clean and inviting, with the staff moderately welcoming. The rooms are small, but have ample room for two people with small to medium-sized luggages. That said, there wasn't a lot of room for personal space, so I suggest staying here with someone you're very close with. Our room was well-kept, save for a dirty glass and a stain on the sink. But it had everything we needed, including in-room tap water. We liked that there was a large table to use for working and tons of counter space to place our things. The bathroom was also adequate, and we love that they had already installed bidets during our stay (I saw that they didn't have these at the beginning). The facilities were also satisfactory. The pool was huge and and temperature-controlled (I think), plus there as a jacuzzi. The gym is small though so it's best to time your visit. I also love that they offered free yoga classes during my time there. I think the only thing disappointing with my stay was that none of my requests were honored. Prior to my arrival, I was asked about my preferences on the ALL app (I'm an Accor member). Not only were these ignored, but I got the opposite of my requests. I asked for a room at a high level, near the elevator. But my room was on the 5th floor and at the end of the hallway. I understand that these requests can only be accommodated if there's availability, but I would've appreciated some acknowledgement – they could've at least tried, given that this hotel is huge. But really, other than that, it was a great stay. Very little complaints, and I'd stay here again and recommend it to others.
Fabulous location, we couldn’t have stayed in a better area. Hotel was fresh and lovely. We were happier eating breakfast outside the hotel but,It was nice to have a pool to come back to, to cool off on steamy days. Yoga by the pool was a delight.
For me, it's always about the team. The team here are fantastic with special mention to Hafiz at front desk who really went the extra mile for us! His contacts inside the Lady GaGa concert gave us perfect advice. I also must say there was a lovely young man assisting in the lobby who was so kind and happy. Top location, absolutely beautiful and central. Comfortable bed and spacious enough for our short stay. In general I must recommend Singapore as a top events location, we have attended two concerts here and each time it was magical!
