Food lovers delight and easy to browse everything before deciding. One of the cleaner food centres and easy intro spot for tourists. Tian Tian wasn’t opened at the time but we followed another queue for Haianese chicken rice and it was fabulous. Lots of noodle options and refreshing drinks for the kids. Would return.

The place boast many good food. So it isnt fair to rate it on what we ate... We went with the intention to try their "western" food, seeing how the Q snakes all the time. We tried from: 夜来香 (Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Bbq) - chicken chop (juicy!! The sauce's flavours really good too!) And fish and chips (crispy and flavourful. soft, note not mushy, inside) portion's huge and price reasonable as well. Chicken chop was 9.50 Fish and chip 10.00 2) taste. Fusion hainaness chicken chop. Salty. Eaten w rice is fine.

Highly recommend the chicken rice!! Thought I was waiting in line for 15 mins but its definitely worth it! Good price for the quality, the ginger sauce was one of the best and the rice is so soft. It wasn’t too crowded on Monday evening, the place is quite clean and table are available for most people and even if you have to wait, it won’t be long before you get to enjoy your meal. The place is right next to the MRT exit. Highly recommend to come for experience and good meals ??

Maxwell Food Centre is hands down one of the best places to experience authentic Singaporean hawker food—a true paradise for anyone who loves bold flavors, local culture, and hearty meals at unbeatable prices. Right in the heart of Chinatown, the vibe is buzzing yet welcoming, with locals and tourists coming together over steaming bowls of noodles, sizzling satay, and world-famous Hainanese chicken rice. And yes, Tian Tian Chicken Rice lives up to the hype—moist, flavorful chicken, fragrant rice, and a chili sauce that hits just right. It’s legendary for a reason. But what really makes Maxwell stand out is the variety. From crispy Fuzhou oyster cakes to comforting fish soup, laksa, dim sum, and even fresh sugarcane juice, there’s something here to satisfy every craving. I loved that many of the stalls have been run by the same families for generations—you can really taste the passion in every bite. The food is incredibly affordable, portions are generous, and everything is served fresh and fast. Seating is communal and casual, which only adds to the charm—just grab a tray, find a seat, and dig in. If you want to eat like a local and experience the soul of Singapore’s food culture, Maxwell Food Centre is a must-visit. I’ve been twice on this trip alone, and I’d go back again in a heartbeat. Rating: 5/5

Great food options. You can share table spots with other people. Bring along tissues or wet wipes. Although, there are some places that sell wet wipes for a dollar. More places here take card but my tourist advice to you would be to use the Grab app to pay via QR code. This is how the locals do it and I had to figure it out myself. You'll be able to top up your balance on the app, scan the QR code at each market stalls and pay them directly and securely. Read up on the better stalls before going so you don't go to a dodgy stall that makes you ill. This place is busy but I loved the atmosphere.
