8 Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea
The front desk staff, Elly, was super friendly and explained everything really clearly. As someone visiting Seoul for the first time, I felt really at ease. The room was totally worth it — the bed, pillows, and blankets were all super comfy. The river view suite is definitely something I’d recommend!
I booked this hotel for a mother's day strawberry afternoon tea in the evening. We managed to enjoy the night time views of the river and the bridge. Though sunset may be an ideal time to capture both day time, watch the sunset and also experience the night time views. The afternoon tea was reasonable priced at 98,000won for 2 people. Everything tasted delicious, high quality and just the right amount of everything. The drinks were also well made and were tasty. However, I would advise coming here with an even number of people. We attended as a group of 5 and found the portion sizes are reduced for the individual person. The portions were included in with the other guests e.g. the third person would share the same salad with the two other people in the party. Staff claimed more salad was placed in the bowl however, this looked exactly the same as the other pair who were not sharing as a 3. The venue itself was grand, clean and quiet. I would definitely come here again for the afternoon tea and would recommend it. It is also an appropriate setting for a romantic date.
Overall, the experience at this hotel was excellent. Good service, friendly, communicates well in English. The hotel is new and clean. Offers extras like memory foam pillow. Others: Experienced some high frequency noise(could be nearby construction noise, or lift noise-room beside lift), may be disturbing to some people. Restaurants in this area are generally closed on Sundays. On other days, restaurants are more decent than other crowded tourist sites. If possible, get the river view, the view is fantastic. Do bring your own toothbrush, shavers as hotel charges for the use to be eco-friendly
Luxurious stay but didn’t feel 5* in some aspects: chargeable vanity kits and using the environment as an excuse, no access to pool and gym after checkout, access to pool and gym through a guarded checkpoint, mandatory use of a swimcap in the indoor pool, outdoor pool extremely crowded, no drinks in the pool lounge area. The hotel was beautiful though and the rooms clean and tidy with floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful city view. They even gave us a late checkout which was highly appreciated. The room service was impeccable and delicious. Check in and check out was smooth and pleasant. Area around hotel is cozy with Myeongdong only 10 minutes away by subway.
