The Hanoi Grand Plaza Hotel has certainly seen better days. While it’s a nice place overall, it feels like it’s lost some of the grand flair it may have once had. The property has aged and hasn’t quite kept up with the standards you’d expect from a five-star hotel.

It’s not a bad stay by any means, but given the many excellent options in Hanoi, I’d personally choose a different hotel—and I did.

I would have given 5 out of 5 stars except for three things:

The room smelled musty due to mold. That is a health hazard, but common across southeast asia. I understand, so I won't be overly harsh regarding that.

However, what Iwill be harsh on, is the fact that I had two beers in the lobby and the servers attempted to rob me. After waiting 10+ minutes for my change (I paid 500k dong for a 270 dong bill), it never returned.

I waited a few more minutes to see what would happen, as I started to realize they hoped I wouldn't ask for it. Once I did ask, it appeared in less than 10 seconds.

What a coincidence.

Foreigners, watch your money here. They know exactly what they're doing, and at a "five star hotel" nonetheless. Abhorrent practice.

Also, I expected fluffier, softer towels. But, it is what it is.

Absolutely NO for Indian travellers.
1) when i entered the hotel - the first question at reception was - show me booking confirmation and how many nights are you staying? Generally staff just take IDs and find these details out themselves.
2) almost no option of food for indian vegetarian. There is one restuarant at 3 floor but that cannot make up for breakfasts.
3) they kept 200 USD security which is like way above than room tariff. Though it was returned later but they just dont provide any service and then you are blocked.
4) Almost no security at the entrance - anyone can enter any floor at hotel.
5) at the time of check out i was waiting for cab to come and was sitting at a lobby area. I was abruptly asked to order a drink or go and site outside lobby area if more than 10 mins. This was done to a person who took 2 room for 3 nights and was already paying hotel.
5) no person for even handling your luggage.
6) no hotel ambience, no music - just a plain landings are scene everywhere.

Today is My first and yes last visit to Vietnam and I was expecting better. I understand that check in time is always 2 pm. But I have travelled the world and if hotel has a room available, they do consider giving a room to their guest who had over night flight.

Front office staff is extremely cold. Doesn't know customer service ethics of hospitality. I am here today since 8 am and now asked them for a waiting area for which this certain gentleman behind the front desk seems like he doesn't care if we even have a proper seating area till he decides to give a room to us, which is available.as he did mention at 8 am that he can give if I pay extra. I belong to the event industry hospitality department and have dealt with all the brands of hotel and have never seen such arrogance and attitude.

Disappointing and sad! Never recommending anyone to visit this hotel.

Not good Service. Specially for Indians .
I am staying in Suit of this Hotel.
The room is really very good.
But staff service is really very bad - There is no management in staff .
Regarding Safety - No safety - There is no guard checking anything - Any one can come to any floor via lift.  - I mean anyone No safety at all.

Room air conditioner not good at all
