58/60 Queen Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
Our first impressions of the Hotel were really good. The decor is beautiful. We were welcomes on arrival. Check in was easy. Our room was really nicely presented. The bed was super comfy. The bathroom was also great. Importantly the shower was just the right pressure. The only negative was there weren't any dressing gowns, which is something I would expect for the price of the room. We were in Auckland for a show and decide to eat in the hotel restaurant. The service required a bit more attention to detail. Some bits were good, others were a bit blah. The food was the same. It was well present but for $40 would have expected a better cut of steak. The night after this meal we has an unplanned night at a hotel near to the airport, for a similar price we had a much nicer meal. The cocktails were lovely. At the end of out evening we popped back to the bar for a night cap, to find the bar was about to close. This was before 10pm highly unexpected. Having travelled extensively this year, a nightcap at the hotel has become one of those little treats that really rounds off a good night out. This is the first time we found a hotel of this calibur without a residents bar of some kind. The expectation was we would pay the exorbitant mini bar prices. We enjoyed elements of our stay, but felt let down due by the food and drink hospitality.
We had a great 2 night stay. We had 1 standard room (5th floor) and 1 suite (8th floor). Now the lift only goes to level 7 so there was a flight of stairs to level 8 but concierge took my luggage up, also collected it on check out so that was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't use any amenities/spa. The location is great, very central. Definitely would stay again.
