2 Chome-2-3 Haginochaya, Nishinari Ward, Osaka, 557-0004, Japan
I was staying for 6 nights with a friend and we honestly don't understand all the negative reviews. Yes, there are homeless people on the street but they have only talked to us a single time (just a quick hello) and not once have they 'approached' us or yelled at us. Note that we are both male and relatively tall, which may make us 'uninteresting' targets? Not sure. From ~9pm onwards, the streets were entirely empty. Our room was clean (although a bit smaller than expected) and the toilets + floors were cleaned every day. The showers were also really nice and looked clean. Except for the very last night, we also had no problems with people running around or being noisy in different ways. This may due to the room's location though, as we were next to the stairs and thus rather isolated. Lastly, the train stations and a few supermarkets/kombinis are really close (~5 minutes). One can reach Namba Station and Osaka Station in just a few (like 2 or 3?) stops, which really cuts down on commuting times. To reach the Osaka Expo 2025, we only had to transfer once, so a one way trip was like ~400円 and took 40 minutes. As we arrived rather early (~1pm), we had to kill some time until check in, but as we could leave our luggage, this wasn't a problem either.
