84 Ohashicho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, 605-0009, Japan
Really nice modern hotel (with plenty traditional charm also). Breakfast was great. Dinner (once) was good also. Bar is a bit dark / quiet - which is absolutely fine if you want a quiet drink. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Everywhere was spotless clean. Our room (at front) was noisy in the evening, but road noise didn’t go on all night (unlike Osaka, say). Beds were super comfortable.
Excellent location in Kyoto; easily accessible for the main tourist sights and right next to a train and metro station. Staff were super friendly and helpful especially with advice on local restaurant options - special mention for Fabiola on reception who welcomed us. If you stay here make sure you make use of the bicycles the hotel has (for a small fee) to explore some of the local streets and temples - being able to move quickly and independently really made our stay in Kyoto extra special. If hotel management reads this, it would be useful to fit some phone holders to the bikes to make navigating easier and safer. The on site restaurant and bar are excellent and the whole hotel feels classy and relaxing. The rooms themselves feel similarly high quality though they are small and somewhat impractical - simple things like hooks on doors for coats would help a great deal as the in room storage is so limited.
Highly recommend! The rooms are exceptional. I stayed in a premier king room. The amenities are amazing - rain shower, bidet!, robe, slippers, pajamas!, Nespresso machine! The location is great, but fair warning the photo on the website of the quintessential Kyoto street is not where the hotel is located. The hotel is right next to the Sanjo train stop and near many of the big tourist spots, restaurants, etc. It's a busy area so if you were looking for tranquil, not the best spot. There's a spa but they only have 2 rooms, so book in advance. I had a sugar scrub and massage. It was lovely. I also booked my stay with breakfast. You can order espresso drinks, coffee, tea, as well as freshly made eggs (fried or omelette). The rest of the food is served at the buffet. Gluten free rice bread is available upon request and it's served warm!! It's delicious. If you're gluten free and/or vegan, there are 2 nearby restaurants - Choice and Uno Ramen.
Fantastic hotel with great service. The staff are amazing and so friendly. The rooms are really big for Japan. Tons of room. The breakfast is to die for. I mean there isn’t anything better out there in the morning in Kyoto, I can assure you of that! The location is literally a 1 min walk to the subway station. So if coming from the Kyoto station, take the subway with a small change and you’re right there. Even with luggage there is an elevator in the subway and in the hotel. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Kyoto!
