Areca Hotel offers good value for a Penang stay. Our room was pleasantly spacious, and the convenient parking made exploring Georgetown easy - a real plus in this busy area. While the accommodations were generally comfortable, we noticed the bedding and towels could use updating as they showed signs of wear. We did experience some trouble with the air conditioning not working properly at first, but the staff responded quickly and fixed the issue, which we appreciated. The hotel serves its purpose well as a clean, functional base for sightseeing. With some attention to refreshing the linens and maintaining the AC units more proactively, it could be even better.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of the old town. The room is excellent, the bed very comfortable and a great shower room. There is enough room to open your suitcase and a small wardrobe to hang clothes. The design of the hotel is wonderful and subdued with a dining room and a lift. There are many interesting places within walking distance as well as restaurants and cafes plus shops also. Well worth staying at!

We had a lovely stay at the Areca Hotel in Penang. The hotel is in a fantastic location making it easy to explore the area’s rich history, street art, and delicious local food on foot. The staff were consistently kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. They were always happy to provide recommendations or assist with anything we needed. We stayed in one of the family suites, which was impressively spacious and perfect for traveling with a group or kids. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged, with plenty of space to relax after a day of sightseeing. In the family suite there are steps down into the room and up into the bathroom. Overall, the Areca Hotel offers great value, warm hospitality, and a convenient base for discovering the best of Penang. We’d gladly stay here again!

Very good location. Right at Georgetown downtown. Walking distance to the famous eateries. The room is also comfortable. The hotel staff are very accommodating, guiding me to their library when I arrived early and needed a place for an online meeting. And quickly get a room ready for me once a guest checked out. The AC wasn’t cold and they immediately put me in another room. Deeply appreciate their effort to make me comfortable.

I really like this hotel, I liked it a lot more than my hotel in Singapore. This hotel is a short Grab ride from most of the attractions, maybe a little longer for places like Penang Hill and the airport. Grab fare is really cheap. Hotel is always clean. Staff is friendly and welcoming, they say hello to you every time you walk in. The cleaning staff always make sure you have new toilet paper and water bottles (make sure you have the sign to “clean your room”). They give you a welcome drink after you check in. They have an afternoon tea with coffee/hot tea with snacks. They have a table with fresh water in the lobby (there are used and unused glasses). Hotel stay was very affordable.
