I had a lovely stay at Affa Boutique Hotel in Hanoi! The hotel is super cute and has a really aesthetic vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything I needed. The location is perfect—right in the Old Quarter, close to everything. My room was very clean and cozy, and the breakfast was great with some nice options. Overall, it was such a warm and comfortable place to stay—I’d definitely come back!

Overall, the location was great. I got a very good deal on Agoda.

Room: I got an interior room (no windows). They did a good job with the lighting and making it feel spacious (the room was wider than it was deep). I was nervous that it would feel claustrophobic, but it didn’t. The bed was soft and so were the pillows. I slept well. The room was quiet, and it was nice to come back to a peaceful space after being in the city hustle. The floors were a little dirty (hair that couldn’t be mine was on the bathroom floor). The surfaces, sink, shower were generally clean. I always wipe down the surfaces I will touch when I go to a hotel room. The key card worked with no drama. They had instant black coffee and tea, but the lid to the kettle was broken. No closet, only 5 hooks, some shelves and nightstand dressers that I didn’t open. The AC was nice; it provided an ambient cool without blasting me in the face with cold air. There’s a fridge that I suspect stops working when you leave the room and take the key card that provides electricity. The rooms would greatly benefit from being deep cleaned. Several areas have caked on dust/debris. I don’t think this is good for people with asthma. I got whiffs of a mold smell in the lobby and a few times in my room. Not overpowering in my room and didn’t affect my use of the room.

Location: Great! I was close to the lake and the French Quarter. Grab worked, and I could get water/snacks delivered. The area was overall clean and pleasant.

Staff: There was a HUGE issue with their airport drop off/pickup service. I confirmed over the phone when booking and by email the week prior that they offered this service. Despite telling me that it was free in email, I got a WhatsApp message telling me the fee. After screenshotting the message and sending it to the email, they confirmed that they made a mistake saying that it was complimentary. The day of my flight, I confirmed directly with the driver: his response was that he couldn’t come into the airport to pick me up and up gaslight me that I don’t need a driver… I know that I don’t NEED a driver from the airport — I want one and that was pretty obvious. I emailed the hotel to ask the best way to get to the hotel from the airport (I’d never been to Vietnam before and wanted tips from people who knew the best tips.) I never got a response. I told them about my WiFi. The front desk person came to my room and confirmed that it wasn’t working, and that was it.

WiFi: never worked, ever. I tried repeatedly over multiple days.

Shower: good water temp and pressure. Shower surfaces were generally clean, but don’t touch the curtain. Again, it needs to be deep cleaned.

Overall, I wouldn’t come back, but it was good for the price and the experience I got to have in the surrounding area. It was a private room and bathroom that served its purpose.

Room is gross. There are bugs. They didn’t wash my towels, just refolded the same dirty ones and hung them up. Roaches and mosquitos. No window in the room. The shower has no door or wall, just a shower head in the middle of the bathroom.

I only stayed one night, the room was very shabby. The bed pretty hard and quite noisy. The staff were friendly enough. Location a bit out of the way. Main problem was the flooding of the bathroom floor. The drainage of the shower didn’t work so I was standing inches deep in water as it’s a wet room

Do not recommend. Rooms are not clean. Toilet floor drainage issue, sewage problem, water don’t flow well, choke. Inform staff but problem didn’t solve. Staff not friendly. No window in rooms. Bed very hard.
