The best culinary experiences I had while in Japan while also being very well priced. Food was fresh, flavourful, and interesting. Our server Yamato and the chefs working were all very friendly and helpful even as English guests even when we had questions. We ended up enjoying our meal so much we booked a reservation for a second night to try items we missed on the first visit.
I don't know where to start but I have to say that this place is so cozy. As I learn and feel from the atmosphere, these people have their own farm and using their own veggies which is so fresh and organic. Before you dine in , please ve sure that you already have reservation because when I went there first time it was Saturday night and I have to wait around 45 mins to be given a table. I am not blaming them but just mentioning that place has limited place to sit around 20 people same time. Mushrooms, onions and other veggies are so delicious. I had chance to try many types of dish there and I can recommend to try beef as well. Beer is fresh , sake is tasty. Staff is helpful and friendly . I will miss this place.
We tried to go to another Izakaya but it was closed. Luckily for us we found this place. We are so happy we did because the food was delicious! The vegetable dishes were amazing and the meats were cooked super well. Definitely a good place to go as an alternative to the abundance of ramen, curry, and tempura. The sesame ice cream was delicious! Lots of locals come here!
What a treat at Isoya today. The atmosphere is fun, young and lively. The waiters were super nice and spoke very well english ? The food was excellent, very generous portions and the price was very reasonable. We were two, had 4 glasses of wine and beer and ordered 5 dishes and paid only 10000¥ that was surprisingly low. I highly recommend this restaurant while in Kyoto. You must reserve your seating though. It is is always booked in advance.
