Jl. Raya Tenggilis No.133A, Tenggilis Mejoyo, Kec. Tenggilis Mejoyo, Surabaya, Jawa Timur 60292, Indonesia
Super excited to see at least 1 (rare) vegan restaurant in Surabaya. And it’s consistently busy too. Though I am confused why they label their food as meat when it’s not. I just wanted some tempe gorengan. After a few questions I figured out I needed to order the chicken katsu which fried tempe with bread crumbs. I’ve been a vegetarian going on 20 years. I don’t think disguising vegan food as meat is good practice. It’s a start I guess? Also confused with the layout arrangement. When you walk in you see Noon. But to order vegan food you need to walk to the next stand called Velan. I guess I’m missing the whole food court idea here. The seating in front of Velan is tiny compared to Noon. Again confusing. But it’s nice inside and there’s a little space for cars to park in front. I probably won’t be back since I prefer a good old gado gado, bak mie polos, and tempe mendoan over fake chicken katsu. Btw, cool uniforms. I’d buy a t-shirt version if they had one for sale.
Good vegetarian place for who seek Javanese food.
As foreigners, some flavors were new to us, but we can see why this place is so popular! We really appreciated their commitment to 100% vegan food and the fact that they avoid onions and garlicwas a big plus for us. Even though some tastes were different from what we’re used to, it was a great experience overall. Highly recommend if you’re looking for clean, plant-based dining!
