405 Nanbacho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, 600-8027, Japan
Stopped by this beautiful little restaurant for lunch and had great vegan dining experience. Kokuro provided us with amazing service, patiently answering all our questions about the food and menu. A member of our party was celebrating their birthday and Akane very kindly put on a sparkler on top of our dessert to help us celebrate! We enjoyed their sake selection as well. Overall lovely experience and must visit when you’re in Kyoto if you’re looking for a special meal!
It is a cool concept where you try different combinations from a lot of ingredients. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't but it was interesting nonetheless. You could see how much attention was made on each ingredient. Chef was very friendly and helpful. Even though I didn't know any Japanese, he made effort to explain how it worked. He also helped me select a nice sake which I liked a lot. As a side note, I was a bit worried whether it would be fulfilling enough but it definitely was. I could barely finish eating at the end. It was a great experience. I will come again if I ever visit Kyoto and I definitely will.
Vegetarian and vegan food is not so widely available in Japan as elsewhere so was great to find this place. Incredible precision and and cooking across the sixteen accompaniments to our main dish of aubergine. All very tasty and with lovely sake to accompany. The location makes it feel like you've discovered a hidden secret and the service was immaculate.
To me this was a magical vegan Sushi moment and I enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere a lot. Never before have I experienced such a creative way of enjoying Sushi and every single item was of high quality. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I enjoyed the peaceful ambiance.
Most beautiful restaurant. Had an incredible experience here. You can feel the love and care that goes into this place, couldn’t recommend it more.
