We recently had our Chinese New Year dinner at this restaurant with a large group of 72 people. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, though there were some areas for improvement. The ambience was cosy, though slightly cramped for our group size. We occupied the entire second level and the mezzanine, which gave us a semi-private setting. The smoker’s area was a nice touch, and the toilet on the second level had a charming classic décor and was well-maintained. The food was tasty and well-presented, but there were some concerns. The salmon portion was disappointingly small, roughly 6cm by 6cm, which left many of us wanting more. For the price and occasion, a larger serving would have been more appropriate. Another major issue was the lack of steak knives for the beef and lamb dishes. Many of us struggled with the blunt serving knives provided, which made eating these dishes frustrating. Service was a bit slow, which was understandable given our group size. However, the restaurant should have allocated more staff to ensure a smoother dining experience. If they intend to cater to large groups, better preparation is necessary. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening, but the restaurant should improve on portion sizes of the salmon, service speed, and essential dining utensils.
A bunch of us celebrated the retirement of one of our colleagues at White Label because it was a halal French restaurant, which is not very common. We were delighted at the quality of the food that was prepared in classical French tradition, but paired with some local flavours that worked really well. Everyone at the meal agreed that we should come back again! The only slight hiccup was that there was a misunderstanding around whether we needed a minimum spend even though we didn’t ask for a special room and seated in the main dining room. It eventually got sorted out but it was a little disruptive to our celebrations. Otherwise everything else went well and we will certainly return.
Had a team lunch here late on a Friday afternoon. The food was delicious and served quickly. I enjoyed the steak frites, perfectly med rare and served with a flavourful coconut au poivre sauce without being overly salty or peppery. Even the broccolini was simple but well cooked. The octopus was tender and really tasty with the curry romesco sauce. The bread basket was pillowy soft with a light crusty exterior and the truffle butter tasted quite complex. I had the weekday lunch set with the chicken pate as my starter. It’s good value but the portion of pate is pretty big and only served with two small slices of bread. A Malay lady provided us wonderful service; she took care to remember exactly what each person had ordered including doneness of the steaks. However one of the wait staff who served most of our dishes simply placed everything on the side of the table for us to distribute amongst ourselves. It was also extremely strange that the water glasses were left turned down throughout our meal without serving water or clearing them. The steaks were served on lipped plates which make it hard to cut without knocking the knife into the plate, and the plates kept slipping on the tabletop while trying to cut the food. I would still return for the food and recommend others! Just providing a few small points of feedback that would greatly improve the experience ??
Spent Mother’s Day celebration here with the fam. We had a few starters and dishes for the evening. Started with a burata salad, lobster bisque and sweet potato salad. The burata salad was one of the star dishes. Burata, tomatoes mixed with grapes with light vinaigrette dressing was a simple delight. It was a light yet flavourful beginning to our dinner. The lobster bisque had a twist as it came with 2 dumplings in the bowl. It was flavourful however missing a slight “omph” and wow factor to the dish. Sweet potato fries was spot on, paired with a mayo sauce with a slight hint of spice. The Alfredo pasta (kids meal) was al’dante however lack of cream. We mentioned to the waiter and he just smiled (which was surprising). The karage chicken was fried to perfection. Laksa dish is nicely spiced, missing a wow factor too. Beef tenderloin pasta was surprising has the sauce had a green curry taste to it. The risotto au poulet stole the show. It was cooked to perfection with the chicken succulent and pan fried perfectly. Service was unfortunately lacking. With the standard and ambience of the place, we expected a little more. Perhaps they were short staffed that evening with a full booking. Hope it doesn’t happen again. Might come back to try other dishes.
It's situated in a heritage hotel and there's set lunch for weekdays. It is one of the best halal restaurant serving fusion food. I like the starters like the burrata amd the Brussels sprouts. Mains like the Norwegian salmon and the filet mignon was done immaculately. Complimentary birthday cake if you are celebrating with birthdays with someone special. Luxurious feel in the restaurant just that it is abit cramped in space. Overall a very good experience!
