Sunday afternoon. They just opened. We sat outside and had a drink. The outside seating is tired and grubby looking. Inside it was clean and maintained. Service was good and attentive. The food was well presented and one of the best Indian meals I have had on the Gold Coast. I like the say, I like the way they present thier poppadoms. The only complaint was no onion barges. Well worth the visit.

If you’re looking for a masterclass in rudeness and oily food disasters, Saffron restaurant broadbeach is the place to go.

From the moment we walked in, we were treated like an inconvenience. The lady at the bar — whose talents clearly include judging people based on appearance — made sure to glare and make faces at us. We were then told to “remain idle” like obedient schoolchildren while they graciously set a table for us. How lucky we must be!

Once seated, she dramatically slammed the drink menus on the table — a nice touch if you’re into passive-aggressive service. Thankfully, the person who eventually took our order managed to be somewhat polite, a rare glimmer of decency in an otherwise chaotic mess.

It took almost 40 minutes for our entrée to arrive — maybe they were busy judging more customers? — and just as we took the first bite, we were told our mains were ready and would arrive in five minutes. Apparently, here you pay good money to be rushed through your meal like you’re in a bad cafeteria.

Speaking of the food: if you love swimming in oil, you’ll be thrilled. The biryani was so greasy I could have filled a small jar with the oil I scooped out — and I’m not even exaggerating.

In short, Saffron offers you the full package: rude staff, long waits, rushed service, and disgustingly oily food — all for the privilege of paying for it. What a joke. Never again.

I Have been dining there for quite some time now. Its been my go to Restaurant to celebrate all special occasions with my family. Recently went with my mother as she was here for a trip. The food is nice, the ambience is nicer and the staff is the best!!

We had the Pan Fried Barramundi and Saag Chicken and loved both.  The food was on another level beyond the usual Indian Restaurant. We will return.

After four staff discussed the wine choice with us, they told me they didn’t have it. The alternate choice came half way through the meal.
Been living across the road for two years but bad reviews held us back.

Pretty ordinary.
Better choices nearby including Indian.

Tip. Book after 7:00 pm when the staff are in the rhythm and orders and takeaways have settled down.
