New Hollywood was hyped during covid. Been to this place since my uni days >>> 10 years ago. I’d say, it’s not as good as before. Post covid: 1. Customers need to line up to get seats as compared to before where we had to fight for tables. 2. Customers feel calmer and not anxious cause no more people will stand next to us while we eat 3. The restaurant looks cleaner and more organized 4. More food choices Lobak: 1. Taste the same as before! Still good Happy ghost: 1. My favorite cakoi of all time, still good. But aunty makes them better. (She’s at her branch at her house) Pan Mee: 1. Really good and not like typicall JJ Chilli Pan Mee. 2. The chilli oil/sambal is spicy!! Note: 1. Beware of a lot of vendors coming in to sell stuff. 2. Please pay your parking using Flexi parking app to avoid getting summoned 3. Come before 9am to skip the long queue.
Weekends probably gotta queue a bit due to larger crowd. Selections here are decent. Tried the chicken hor fun, I would recommend this as the whole bowl is quite tasty. And also the prawn noodle, can be better but good enough too
New Hollywood Restaurant is a great breakfast and brunch spot with a unique concept. It’s one restaurant, but there are many mini-stalls or ‘gerai’ where you can buy different types of food, mostly Chinese cuisine. It offers a variety of options, so there’s something for everyone, and the food is generally tasty. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, perfect for a leisurely meal. However, parking can be a hassle, especially during the weekends since it’s a popular tourist spot. If you’re planning to visit, it’s best to go early or be prepared to find parking a little further away. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those looking to try a variety of local Chinese dishes in one place.
Come during fasting month, no queue during weekday breakfast hour. Char Kuey Teow quite delicious, the mee not normal yellow noodle type, got wok hei also. Prawn mix with Chicken Chee Cheong Fun taste average.
First food I had in Ipoh was Dry Chili Pan Mee here. It has great flavor and texture - it filled with just enough spiciness and crunchiness ?? Other than that, there are plenty of food options you can get here. However, the queue can be quite long and parkjng space is limited. Hence, it's recommended to come when you're not that hungry so when you get to the front line you're already hungry ?
