Japan, 〒606-8396 Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Shimotsutsumicho, 82 恵美須ビル 2階
This restaurant is on the second floor of an office type building so it's easy to miss. I'm not vegetarian but these vegetarian set meals were recommended to me to try in Kyoto by a Japanese foodie. The presentation of the set meal is great. The tofu balls, spring roll and dumplings were outstanding. I also really liked the soup and the gluten free dessert. A delightful meal, eat here even if usually you eat meat!
Here I had one of the most delicious foods in my whole Japan trip. The menu was so nourishing and made with care, it felt so soulful. I found the restaurant setting quite unique for Japan too. Highly highly recommend visiting even if you’re not vegan.
Loved the food here very much! Believe the glowing reviews! They preserve the natural taste of the food yet making them so flavourful! Felt very nourished and contented after my meal. The setting of the restaurant was also very pleasant, looking over to the river, with vintage music playing in the background. Service from one lady could be improved though, as she seemed cold and impatient. When I asked if they have ramen today and she said no, i needed some time to flip the menu back to the 1st page to decide what else to eat, and she just walked away impatiently. I understand she's busy so she wanted to attend to other tasks, but she could have said something like "I'll give you more time, or call me when you're ready" (I spoke in Japanese to her). The lady in the kitchen was more warm and friendly. Also noted that the restaurant had a very strong "fried oil" smell and my clothes and bag smelled of oil for the rest of the day. I guess that can't be helped. But overall a good experience because the food was great! Would recommend ?
Lovely vegetarian restaurant with delicious food!! We ordered the peaceful set and loved every item of it. Just like the menu name the restaurant has a peaceful atmosphere - great way to escape the bustling city. Kudos to the two power women running it ✨
We had a great teishoku style set meal at Padma. We ordered one Peaceful and one Calm plate. The former was a big bigger but the latter had a tiny dessert, so we're glad we got back. The food and atmosphere were excellent. As other reviewers have mentioned the service was a bit cold but I don't think she was rude and I don't require warm service so it didn't bother me at all. It was hot outside and a bit warm inside but we sat under a fan and it was fine. Overall a great experience and I recommend a meal here, especially if you like teishoku set meals!
