We stopped by Luu’s Bao Vegan in Osaka and were blown away! We tried the maitake mushroom bao, the plant-based meat tatsuta, the açaí berry smoothie, and the matcha donut—everything was made to order and absolutely delicious. Each bao featured a a well-balanced combination of fillings and sauces, the donut was soft and uniquely flavorful, and the smoothie was refreshing. What truly stood out, though, was the service—the owners were incredibly kind, welcoming, and generous. Hands down the best vegan baos we’ve had. Highly recommend this gem!
Honestly, if you’re vegan and NEED to have a proper tasty meal then you can’t skip this place. The owner has a full 5 star rating and there is a good reason for that. The Bao’s are enormous. DELI-CIOUS. All sauces and bao filling combinations are to die for. I think I’ve eaten in most plant based pop ups and restaurants in Osaka and I truly regret I missed this place last year. I can 100% vouch for this place if you are a foodie like me. The way the bao’s ingredients were designed and put together is genius. Definitely comes from a highly skilled chef! To the owner and staff. A BIG thank you for the amazing food, friendliness, cool pop truck atmosphere and experience.
We came for the bao but stayed for the donuts! Seriously the best fresh vegan donuts I've ever tasted. We got the matcha flavour but will be back for the others! Service is super friendly and worked hard at making us comfortable despite the heavy rainstorm. Thank you, Luu!
These bao buns are huge!! ? Before ordering, I was considering getting two for myself but I'm glad I didn't because I might have exploded. I ordered the plant based meat burger with bbq sauce & added the mayo myself. My partner ordered the plant based meat tatsuta with garlic amazake sauce. Everything tasted incredible & was cooked fresh to order. The ladies working were smiling & friendly, greeting us straight away & offering us a table (there are only 4 tables). Let's support vegan small businesses! ?
Came here a few times because it was so close to my hostel, Namba Guesthouse Hive. The restaurant is in an open area, although roofs do cover the seating area. One of the things I miss about travelling around Japan is getting fake meat burgers, but LUU's BAO has two options. I preferred the Soy Sauce version as the wasabi option was very strong for me. I also highly recommend the mushroom bao It's just a shame their opening hours are short and it's not possible to get dinner here.
