Small, cozy place for some solid soba dishes and other rice bowls. Good portion sizes, I got a kitsune hot soba bowl, which was perfect on a rainy day. I can see how the cold soba options would be delish during the summer too.
Worth it of 30 minutes queued to enjoy chewy and smooth soba. Great taste of dipping soya sauce with wasabi and ended with hot broth. Seating space is tight but service is fast. Certainly will come back again.
A very old traditional soba shop - favoured by local people for more than 100 years. The atmosphere is very lively, makes one reminiscent of the older days. The soba and the other dishes are delicious. The staff were accommodating for requests (special cups for the soba water when ordering Yamakake soba).
Date of visit: June 2024 Cash only! Great spot for delicious soba. The servers are nice Japanese ladies. I spoke to them in English. We had a party of eight. We did wait a bit, and they separated us into two tables. I got the duck soba. It was so delicious. I actually don't care for soba in California, USA (home), but the noodles were so satisfying. Great company probably helped as well. I was meeting up with people from different parts of the world in a soba shop in Japan! I would definitely come back with cash ready.
The soba texture was pretty good but the prawn tasted not so fresh… the texture of the prawn a bit soft and under seasoned. The staff were friendly and the shop was historically and uniquely.
