The place had a waiting time of about 30 min. We went there on the occasion of pongal, so ordered Thai Pongal Thali. The thali was very fulfilling with various items. Also ordered ghee roast masala dosa and mixed uttapam. They were served with sambar and 3 different chutneys. The uttapam was burnt, but the dosa was absolutely delicious. Also loved the filter coffee. The service could be better.

After an early morning drive to India Gate, we reached Hotel Saravana Bhavan right at 8 AM — the moment it opens — and there was already a crowd waiting. That says a lot about the popularity and consistent reputation of this place. Personally, I consider it the best South Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The flavors are authentic, the food is always fresh, and the service is efficient even during busy hours. I tried the podi idli, onion rava masala dosa, and a few other dishes — every item was flavorful and true to its roots. The chutneys and sambar were spot-on, complementing the food perfectly.

So my husband took me out for lunch at Saravana Bhavan, and we ordered masala dosa and ghee roast masala dosa. The dosas were good, especially the ghee roast dosa, and the chutneys served were also very good and balanced in taste. So masala dosa was served a little burnt, and the manager noticed it late. So, the manager came to our table and took the remaining masala dosa and gave us a fresh masala dosa. It was a good gesture, but it kind of interrupted us in the middle of eating. Food was good and delicious, and service was good, but our seat was near the handwashing area, so it was a bit smelly, and also near our seat we found one cockroach, which was handled by the waiter. Overall pretty good food and economical on the pocket. Just the cockroach and foul smell left a bitter taste in our mouth. Will definitely visit again.
