It was developed as a showpiece of Lutyens' Delhi, with a prominent Central Business District (Delhi). Named after Prince Arthur, 1st Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, construction work began in 1929 and was completed in 1933. It was designed by Robert Tor Russell. It was renamed in 1995 after former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi.[3] The area today falls under the jurisdiction of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and is therefore allotted a high priority in term of funds for maintenance and upkeep.[7] The New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) is the association of establishments (like retails stores, restaurants, halls, offices) in Connaught Place. NDTA also plays a major role in liaising with government bodies like NDMC in order to represent the commercial interests and maintenance issues of Connaught Place establishments. An underground metro railway station built in the area is named Rajiv Chowk metro station.[8]

Best attraction of the whole park or even the whole area. Makes you feel proud of this country. Government should try to maintain the park as it's seems not much maintained and remove/ reduce the people with the ill intentions. While seeing from park or even from the road the flag looooks incredible

Historical Timeline - The monumental flag was inaugurated on March 7, 2014 - It was installed by the Flag Foundation of India, an NGO founded by industrialist and parliamentarian Naveen Jindal - The project cost approximately ₹1.5 crore (15 million rupees) Significance The flag was installed following a historic Supreme Court judgment in 2004 that declared displaying the national flag as a fundamental right of every Indian citizen. The Central Park location was specifically chosen due to its prominence in the heart of New Delhi, making the flag visible from various parts of central Delhi. It serves as a symbol of national pride and unity in a public space visited by thousands of residents and tourists daily. The flag is illuminated at night and remains flying 24 hours a day, as permitted by the amended Flag Code of India which allows the national flag to be displayed day and night if properly illuminated.

The Indian Flag is waiving high at the central park at the inner circle at Connaught Place. We usually visit the place on our bicycle on the weekends and it feels really good.
