I had the pleasure of trying Ayam Penyet at Daun Pisang and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. The dish features a perfectly fried chicken that is both crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The blend of spices used in the marinade gives the chicken an incredible depth of flavor. The sambal served alongside the Ayam Penyet was outstanding—spicy, tangy, and full of robust flavors that complemented the chicken perfectly. The accompanying sides, including the fresh cucumber slices, fried tofu, and tempeh, added wonderful textures and tastes to the meal. The presentation was also impressive, with each component of the dish arranged beautifully on the plate. The portion size was generous, making it great value for money. Overall, I highly recommend trying the Ayam Penyet and Gurame Bakar Bumbu at Daun Pisang. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves flavorful, authentic Indonesian cuisine. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy it again!
Hii i’d recommend the chicken soup with sour spicy flavor - i can’t recall the exact dish name ?however the taste is unforgotable for anyone who love spicy food!
Casual, mid range Indonesian dining at grand Batam mall. We ordered gado-gado, grilled fish, veggies & mee goreng. The food was tasty, especially the grilled fish. Lots of spices and flavour in the paste they used.
We tried the gado-gado (peanut sauce salad), fried chicken thigh, BBQ fish, banana leaf rice (nasi liwet), and mee goreng. Every dish was delicious, but the nasi liwet stood out—perfectly cooked in coconut milk and chicken broth, infused with aromatic spices. Each bite delivered layers of rich, comforting flavor. I was truly blown away.
The food here is delicious, so be prepared to wait awhile during peak mealtimes. We came after the peak lunch hour so the wait wasn't too long, but some dishes were sold out, like their signature ayam goreng berempah. The ayam penyet is on also the smaller side though.
