Canelita Sweets is a charming little vegan café. The shopfront, with its cheerful blue-and-white awning, gives off a cosy and welcoming vibe that immediately draws you in. I ordered the flower power doughnut and an iced soy latte. The doughnut was not only adorable in its sakura-like shape, but also delicious – filled with a slightly tart berry jam that balanced beautifully with the sweet sugar glaze on top. The soy latte was smooth and refreshing, a nice pairing to the sweet treat. There’s a loft-style seating area upstairs, where you can enjoy your food by a large window that frames a lovely view of Horie Park just across the road. It gives the space a calm and relaxing feel. The staff were warm and friendly, and communication in English was no problem at all.
If I hadn’t been told while I was ordering, I won’t have known this was a vegan bakery! The owner behind the counter is a foreigner who speaks English and is very nice. Everything she recommended was both cute and delicious. My friends and I agreed that we couldn’t tell the sweets were vegan when eating them! It’s about 20 minutes from Dontonbori by walking. With less crowds and interesting streets and stores along the way, I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!
The donuts are delicious. Many options. Also had cookies, cake, and cheesecake. All vegan! My non-vegan friend said the donuts were better than any non-vegan donut he has had. Definitely recommend!
I got to taste a bit of everything over a few meals. The Flower Power Donut is fantastic : it's very sweet, squishy, quite big, filled with a delicious jam, and it was so easy on my tummy. I also got enjoyed the Carrot Cake and the Chocolate Cupcake : both very creamy and fluffy and flavorful, however they were a bit too sweet for my taste. I'm a big fan of vegan pastries and I know some recipes can be a hit or miss : well, these are absolutely wonderful and if I could, I would buy them for all my friends!
A great place to get your sweets fix, and also vegan friendly. They have a nice selection to choose from, including donuts, cakes, and brownies. I went with the carrot cake, and it was quite delicious. A moist, soft interior with a tasty icing. The donuts seem quite popular, and I wish I would’ve tried one. They offer drinks as well. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth your time.
